          Centrale Montemartini
The Centrale Montemartini is a unique exhibition centre housed within a former power station. Constructed from 1911 to 1913, this building used to power to the city of Rome. Today it houses ancient sculptures from the Capitoline Museums in a most unusual setting. The engine room has been redesigned in an Art Nouveau motif, brilliantly marrying the unlikely elements of turbines, diesel motors and the giant steam boiler with the elegance of ancient sculptures though the addition of well-placed windows, string course frames, friezes and streetlamps.

          Pyramid of Cestius
You don't have to go all the way to Egypt to see a pyramid. A fine example of an Egyptian pyramid stands near Porta San Paolo. The pyramid was built during the reign of the emperor Augustus between 18 and 12 BCE as a tomb for the Roman Gaius Cestius. The monument was constructed of white Carrara marble. It measures 100 Roman square feet (30 sqm) at the base and stands 125 Roman feet (36.4 m) high. After the year 270, the pyramid was incorporated into the wall of Rome. Today, the Pyramid is open to the public. Admission is free.

Testaccio

Rome is the largest open-air museum in the world, and boasts an unequalled concentration of the rich museums and galleries. But there's more to Rome than its historical, archeological and artistic gems. In one of Rome 's oldest districts, called Testaccio, you will find an impressive amount of restaurants, bars and clubs filled with well-dressed Romans. The best way to get there from the historical centre is by taxi. Expect to pay between €5 and €10 for a taxi from Piazza Venezia. Saturaday is the best time to go.
